WSQ Recognise Terrorist Threats (RTT)

This WSQ course aims to enable security officers, including the auxiliary police officers, to have situational awareness and the ability to identify various types of terrorist threats in order to make appropriate responses to terrorist threats promptly. With the knowledge and skills acquired in the course, Security officers and auxiliary police officers can better serve as eyes and ears on the ground and enhance the capability of the security forces at the system level, not just as individuals.

On completion of the course, security officers and auxiliary police officers would acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes to describe contemporary terrorist threats, identify person-borne threats, vehicle-borne threats and object based threat, and carry out appropriate actions.

This course is a core module under the WSQ Security Framework –Certificate in Security Operations which requires the successful completion of three (3) Core Modules and three (3) Elective Modules.


To demonstrate mastery of the tasks in this course, the participants must be able to do the following within the given time limit and with the materials, tools and equipment supplied:

  • Describe contemporary terrorist threats
  • Identify person-borne threats
  • Identify vehicle-borne threats
  • Identify object-based threats
Who should attend

This course is designed primarily for the training of security personnel performing the role of a licensed security officer or auxiliary police officer.

Assumed Attitudes, Skills and Knowledge

Participants are assumed to be able to:

  • Read, write and speak English at WSQ WPL Level 4
  • Manipulate numbers at WPN Level 4
  • Act in a professional manner
  • Observe confidentiality
  • Be vigilant at all times
Physical and Medical Requirement

Participants must:

  • Be certified by a medical doctor to be physically fit for work
  • Not be colour-blind or hearing impaired
Course Duration
  • 2 Days (18 Hours) – Inclusive Assessment
  • Day 1: 8.30am-10pm
  • Day 2: 8.30am-3pm
  • Assessment: 3pm-Onwards
