Unless exempted by the Police Licensing and Regulatory Department (PLRD) of the Singapore Police Force, Individuals with the intention of pursuing a career in the security industry as a Security Officer will have to complete the Basic Licensing Units (BLUs) prior to the attainment of a security license.
The BLUs comprises 3 compulsory WSQ security courses:
- Incident Response: Handle Security Incidents and Services (HSIS)
- Guard and Patrol: Provide Guard and Patrol Services (PGPS)
- Threat Observation: Recognise Terrorist Threats (RTT)

- All classes are conducted in English and will require students to write in English.
